Mendez on Fire: 6-for-6 for Spring Hill High School
Monday, March 21st , 2022
It's not something you read about in the sports pages every day -- a 6-for-6 day. For many, it might come around only once in a career -- and for Leo Mendez, it came around today.
The 18-year-old first baseman scattered hits all over Spring Hill High School Baseball Complex to pace the 9-7 Spring Hill High School Panthers victory over the Loganville High School Red Devils.
Loganville High School skipper Sean Sander told reporters in the press room that "Mendez deserves a hat-tip."
"He hit some good pitches against us," he said. "In fact, according to our scouting reports, Mendez hit several that he is not supposed to be able to hit."
Leo Mendez walked in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Al Milligan in the 5th, singled in the 7th, hit a solo-shot off Chad Asbury in the 9th, singled in the 11th and hit a three-run home run off Tommy Kegley in the 13th.
