Pechota Is King of Swing: Goes Deep 3 Times Sunday, May 19th , 2024 Etiwanda High School Eagles third baseman Andy Pechota put on a dazzling display of power at Windermere Baseball Complex against the Windermere High School Wolverines. In the 9-1 Eagles victory, Pechota penned his name into the record books, slamming a trio of home runs in one of baseball's finest single-day efforts. "He can hit them out anywhere, right, center, left, it doesn't matter," Windermere High School manager Trent Perry said. "He's super strong and stays on the ball so well." Along with his three home runs, the 15-year-old had 4 hits in 5 at-bats, 5 RBIs and 4 runs scored. "Life will always throw you curves, just keep fouling them off," Pechota said after the game, when asked about his hitting philosophy. "The right pitch will come, and when it does, be prepared to run the bases. Or trot around them, like I did today." Andy Pechota hit a three-run home run off Bobby Ibarra in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Keith Bush in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off John Merrick in the 5th, struck out in the 7th and singled in the 9th. This year, Pechota is hitting .199, produced 15 RBIs and 6 home runs, scored 18 times and gotten on base at a .253 rate. |
