3 Bombs for Chris Clark
Saturday, May 3rd , 2025
Allatoona High School Buccaneers left fielder Chris Clark almost did it all. He sent three shots out of the ballpark, scored 3 times and drove in 6 runs and had 3 hits in 6 at-bats.
The one thing he could not do, however, was lead the Buccaneers to victory. The St. Johns Country Day High School Spartans escaped with the win, 19-18, despite being on the receiving end of the barrage from Clark.
"I'd be lying if I said I didn't like hitting three homers, but losing takes a little glitter off the game," he admitted to BNN writers after the game.
Chris Clark flied out in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Matt Bradford in the 2nd, flied out in the 4th, hit a three-run home run off Roberto Miller in the 6th, hit a two-run home run off Mike Allen in the 7th and struck out in the 8th.
"When someone hits three home runs, you put yourself in a tough position to win," said Allatoona High School manager Manny Ortega. "We were lucky to win this one. I don't think it matters how hard you throw, especially in the ABA High School. If you leave a ball out over the plate to good ABA High School hitters, if they get a bead on you and you leave it over the middle, they're probably going to take a good hack at it."
For the year, Clark has hit at a .342 clip with 46 RBIs, 19 home runs and 37 runs scored.
