Pope High School's Alvarez Gets Pitcher of the Year Award Saturday, June 19th , 2021 Rob Alvarez was the most outstanding pitcher in the ABA High School this year and today was acclaimed the Pitcher of the Year Award winner for his efforts. Alvarez had a marvelous season, going 5-0 with an impressive 0.89 ERA in 9 starts. He struck out 58 in 50.1 innings and limited opposing batters to a .184 batting average. He received 37 first place votes out of a possible 64. Isaiah Singletary of the Notre Dame High School Knights finished second in voting with 26 first place votes, while Adam Noland of the Sinton High School Pirates finished third with 1 first place vote.
