Cox Gets Award for Relief Work
Wednesday, June 16th , 2021
At the age of 17, Ben Cox says he still has a lot to learn about life in ABA High School.
But he certainly seems to be a quick study, as the Jesuit High School Tigers reliever was better than all others this year and has captured the 2021 ABA High School Reliever of the Year Award.
"I hope to win this a few more times before all is said and done in my career," the Bayonet Point, Florida native said.
For the season, Cox had 1 save in 15 relief appearances, which totaled 16.2. He fanned 21 betters, while walking 10 and put up a record of 2-0 to go with his 0.00 ERA.
He received 38 first place votes out of a possible 64. Kyle Ellingson of the Trinity Christian Academy Conquerors finished second in voting with 17 first place votes, while Marcos Patino of the Southlake Carroll High School Dragons finished third with 3 first place votes.
