Stoppel Belts 5 Hits Wednesday, April 30th , 2025 Some moments become linked with a particular player's career forever. Steve Stoppel of the Buchanan High School Bears had one of those moments when he went 5-for-5 at the plate in his team's 6-1 win over the Ray High School Texans at Ray High School Stadium. "I won't forget this anytime soon, and I don't expect it to happen too often," the 16-year-old center fielder told reporters in the postgame interview. "I'll be happy to just get a hit or two every day. Enough to hang around the league a while longer. Like 10, maybe 15 more years." Steve Stoppel singled in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Josh Spires in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off Josh Spires in the 6th, singled in the 7th and hit a solo-shot off Jon Godwin in the 9th. Stoppel on the season is batting .366 with 22 home runs. His totals include 42 RBIs and 31 runs scored. He has played in 34 games. |
