3-HR Game for Santiago
Wednesday, April 26th , 2023
The "hardest feat in sports" debate is a never-ending one with no correct answer, but hitting three home runs is certainly in the conversation. That's exactly what Mario Santiago did at Koch Baseball Diamond, going deep three times and carrying his team to victory, 10-1.
"It all came together. I was seeing the ball well and I got some good pitches to hit," Santiago said. "Good things happen, when that happens."
The De La Salle High School Spartans right fielder blistered the American Heritage High School Patriots for 4 hits, batted in 4 runs and scored 5 times.
"It ain't like we weren't trying," American Heritage High School manager Jim Crawford said. "He was hot and really torched my boys today."
Mario Santiago hit a solo-shot off Jon Rodriguez in the 1st, doubled in the 3rd, walked in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off Ken Johnson in the 6th and hit a two-run home run off Matt Strickler in the 8th.
Currently Santiago is batting .362 with 42 hits and 9 home runs. He has knocked in 20 runs and scored 32 times.
