Greyhounds Move on to Round 2 Monday, May 17th , 2021 ABA High School pundits who figured the Round 1 between the Pope High School Greyhounds and North Oconee High School Titans would go the distance were right on the mark. The two teams battled back and forth in a spirited series, with Pope High School coming out on top thanks to a 1-0 win in the deciding game at North Oconee High School Stadium, to wrap things up 4-3. "You get to the last game and anything can happen, so we're overjoyed to come out on top," said Greyhounds catcher Matt Freeland, who was named series MVP. For the series, Freeland had 11 hits for a .407 average. He had 1 home runs, 4 RBI and scored 3 runs. The Pope High School Greyhounds will play against the Trinity Christian Academy Conquerors in the next round. Trinity Christian Academy won their series against the Wesleyan High School Wolves 4 games to 3. The Round 2 schedule will be announced after the Round 1 finishes. |
