Wyatt on Fire, 5-for-6 Against Grapevine High School
Saturday, April 12th , 2025
After a 5-hit effort to lead JSerra Catholic High School's 13-4 victory over the Grapevine High School Mustangs, center fielder Devon Wyatt told BNN beat writers it had been "a special day."
"It really doesn't matter whether it's sandlot ball, high school or college, two hits in a game is nice," he said. "Three or four is better, but five or more is out of sight. And to do that at the ABA High School-level is really something special."
The 17-year-old player earned his accolades at Valiants Field with a spectacular 5-for-6 game against the Mustangs.
"His swing is getting there," said Lions skipper Paul Stange, who spoke glowingly of Wyatt after the game. "We want him to be quick with his swing, short and compact. We want him to be patient and go the other way when he can. Devon did that to perfection."
Devon Wyatt doubled in the 1st, singled in the 1st, singled in the 4th, singled in the 6th, doubled in the 7th and flied out in the 9th.
In 11 games this season, Wyatt has compiled a .452 batting average with 14 hits and no home runs. He has also scored 7 times and knocked in 2 runs.
