O'Connell Raps 3 Homers Against Victors Sunday, April 23rd , 2023 The old superstition that "bad news comes in threes" certainly came true for the Miami Christian High School Victors. Clayton Valley Charter High School third baseman Gary O'Connell tripled up on the home runs to propel the Eagles to a win, 10-8, at Clayton Valley High School Stadium. "We had our chances to win the game, but we just didn't come through," Miami Christian High School manager Carlos Vallejo said. "O'Connell hit the heck out of the ball." In addition to the homers, O'Connell collected 4 hits in 4 at-bats, 4 RBIs and scored 4 runs. "Easy swings get you home runs," he said after the game. "I kept telling myself not to press. They have to be nice and easy swings." Gary O'Connell hit a solo-shot off Mike Murray in the 2nd, doubled in the 4th, hit a two-run home run off Steve Schoenberger in the 6th and hit a solo-shot off Mike Cape in the 8th. This year, O'Connell is hitting at a .367 pace with 8 home runs and 23 RBIs. He has played in 29 games and scored 18 times. |
