It went the distance, but the Stoneman Douglas High School Eagles finally disposed of the Southlake Carroll High School Dragons 4-1 in the series clincher at Anthony Rizzo Field.

Winning the finale gave the Eagles the series, 2-1. They will now advance to the Elite Eight.

The Most Valuable Player Award went to Stoneman Douglas High School center fielder Mike Bolden. He batted .417 in the series, collecting 3 RBIs and scoring 2 runs.

"Mike deserves it," said Eagles manager Rich Moore. "He was the glue that held our club together."
