Fletcher Gets 5 Hits Tuesday, April 18th , 2023 Orange Lutheran High School right fielder Michael Fletcher went down swinging at Windermere Baseball Complex, knocking out 5 hits even as his Lancers fell, 12-11. "It was like I was hitting Little League pitching," Fletcher said after his 5-for-5 performance against the Windermere High School Wolverines. "No offense meant to Windermere High School, but it was like I was back in little league again -- I could see the ball that well." After the game, his manager elaborated on the right fielder's improvements, saying Fletcher spent the offseason trying to shorten his swing and stay inside the ball. "That's what I'm trying to do," Fletcher agreed. "Be quick to the ball and let it travel a little farther so I get a better look at it." Michael Fletcher doubled in the 2nd, doubled in the 3rd, hit a two-run home run off Darius Oliver in the 5th, tripled in the 7th and hit an RBI single in the 8th. At present, Fletcher is batting .322 and has collected 6 home runs, 16 RBIs, .344 OBP and scored 17 runs. |
