Ruiz Sensational, 5-for-6
Tuesday, April 30th , 2024
The Encinitas Eskimo Brothers stopped the Washington Wildthings by a score of 26-1 at EBDBBNB Park, with the lion's share of the credit going to first baseman Rich Ruiz. The 29-year-old had a career day, collecting 5 hits.
"Every batter wants to have a quality at-bat every time he steps up to the plate," Ruiz said later. "He wants to hit the ball hard."
Ruiz did just that in his 6 at-bats, much to the chagrin of the Wildthings.
"Not much that I can say," offered Washington manager Danny Sanchez. "He just hammered the heck out of us."
Rich Ruiz hit a solo-shot off Jim Unknown in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off Jim Unknown in the 2nd, flied out in the 3rd, walked in the 5th, hit a two-run double in the 6th, singled in the 7th and singled in the 8th.
So far in 2024 Ruiz is batting .379 with 3 home runs, 14 RBIs and 18 runs scored. He has 22 hits in 58 at-bats and a .493 OBP.
