Pitcher of the Year Award Announced, Winner is Calder Tuesday, October 15th , 2024 The Augusta Capitols have a rising superstar or maybe even a budding Hall-of-Famer in the making. It's Ben Calder, this year's Western AA Pitcher of the Year Award selection. This blossoming hurler wowed fans, peers and sportswriters with a fabulous performance. Calder compiled a 13-5 record in 28 starts, tallied 111 strikeouts in 159.1 innings and recorded a 2.65 ERA. Other clubs managed only a .250 batting average against him. He received 24 first place votes, as a unanimous winner. Jesus Howell of the Vail Tigercats finished second in voting, while Rob Stech of the Cornwall Royals finished third.
