Scorpions Win League Championship Series Tuesday, September 24th , 2024 The League Championship Series didn't live up to the billing from those who thought it would be an all-out battle to the last game. But the Sonoma Scorpions are no doubt pleased by the results, as they have knocked out the Augusta Capitols 4-2 to advance to the World Series. "It doesn't matter how you win it, as long as you win it and get yourself moving forward," said Scorpions first baseman Juan Ortega. "I know a lot of people thought this was going to be a really tight series the whole way through, but we're glad it didn't go right down to the wire." Sonoma won the final game by a score of 7-0 at Ballpark of North Richland Hills. Ortega was named series MVP after hitting .500 with a .522 on-base percentage. He also had 1 home runs, drove in 3 RBI and scored 4 runs. The Sonoma Scorpions will play against the Winchester Mountaineers in the next round. Winchester won their series against the Encinitas Eskimo Brothers 4 games to 1. The World Series schedule will be announced after the League Championship Series finishes.
