League Gives Handler 3-Game Suspension
Sunday, August 9th , 2026
The agitation was hot and heavy at The Capitol Dome yesterday. After a called third strike Firecats first baseman Joe Handler protested the call in no uncertain terms. While he and the home plate umpire were jawing face-to-face, a few bumps took place and Handler was ejected from the game.

"It was verbal, nothing more," according to Handler. However, the league frowned on what transpired and suspended him for 3 games.

"The league will never tolerate a player touching an umpire in anger," the commissioner said in the suspension notification.

This season, Handler has banged out 43 hits in 156 at-bats for a .276 average with 7 home runs. He is getting on base at a .396 pace and his totals also include 28 RBIs and 31 runs scored.
