4-Game Suspension for Millionaires Gelardi
Friday, May 31st , 2024
There was a hostile encounter between Mike Gelardi and the men in blue in yesterday's Alcoa-Rohnert Park game. The Millionaires second baseman was tossed for arguing a called third strike. Actually he did a little more than just complain about the call -- he got in the umpire's face and had to be restrained by his manager.
"I don't think I did anything to deserve to be thrown out of the game in the first place, never mind be suspended," Gelardi stated. "That's unbelievable. I still don't know why he threw me out of the game. I didn't charge over there until after he gave me the heave-ho."
The league office did not agree with his assessment of the confrontation and suspended Gelardi for 4 games.
So far this year, Gelardi is batting .397 with 10 home runs, 29 RBIs and 29 runs scored.
