Colon on Fire: Burns Washington with 3 HR
Friday, May 3rd , 2024
Boise Dread Kings right fielder Ricky Colon sensed he was going to have a good day at the plate, but he still might have underestimated it a little.
Prior to the start of today's contest with the Washington Wildthings, Colon told teammates he was sure he would hit a home run. He did -- three times.
"During batting practice I really had my swing down pat," he recalled. "I felt some thunder in the lumber."
The big day from Colon pushed the Dread Kings past the Wildthings, 12-9. To go along with the homers, he collected 4 RBIs and scored 4 runs.
"I was seeing good, feeling good and swinging good," Colon told reporters after the game.
Ricky Colon walked in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Chris Gibbons in the 3rd, hit a two-run home run off Chris Gibbons in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off Jim Hodgins in the 6th and walked in the 8th.
At present, Colon is batting .321 and has collected 7 home runs, 12 RBIs, .409 OBP and scored 18 runs.
