Bears Willie Morales Will Miss Season
Monday, August 9th , 2021
The doctors have spoken and Willie Morales of the Traverse City Bears didn't like what he heard. The 23-year-old starting pitcher is almost certainly gone for the rest of the year and depending on his progress could miss some of next season as well. Morales sustained his season-ending injury during the Jackson Rebels game yesterday at Creeps Ballpark. He had to leave the game because he hurt himself while throwing a pitch. Today the Traverse City medical staff reported Morales had a torn ulnar collateral ligament and would be absent from the lineup for at least 14 months.
Morales has made 23 starts, tossed 117.1 innings, struck out 91 batters and walked 77. His record is 5-10 with a 5.98 ERA and he has limited other teams to a .265 batting average.
