Mounts Socks It to Rohnert Park 3 Times
Saturday, August 7th , 2021
It's a rare event when a player hits three homers in a game and rarer still when he does it and loses.
It happened at Running Rebels Ballpark, as Chris Mounts of the Fresno Running Rebels unloaded three times against the Rohnert Park Cougars but was still bumped off, 7-5, by the Cougars.
"We were lucky to win today," said Rohnert Park skipper Josh Dix. "You can't give up that many home runs and expect to win on a regular basis."
For the game, the Fresno second baseman had 3 hits in 4 at-bats, scored 3 times, and drove in 5.
Mounts spoke to the writers in the postgame press room with mixed feelings, saying he was sad to lose but happy to be seeing the ball well.
"I was just trying to swing early and often to give myself a chance," he said. "I let the pitcher supply all the power and try to figure out how to get the bat on the ball."
Chris Mounts flied out in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off Chris Bell in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off Chris Bell in the 6th and hit a two-run home run off Terry May in the 8th.
Mounts is currently hitting at a .254 pace with 7 home runs and 18 RBIs. He has played in 63 games and scored 12 times.
