Sykora Goes Deep 3 Times
Sunday, June 5th , 2022
Jim Sykora must believe in the Big Bang theory. He proved it by banging three deep against the Toronto Trash Pandas. The hard-hitting Austin Desperados first baseman added a lot of firepower and excitement to the 12-3 Desperados win, leaving fans and the opposing dugout buzzing about his standout performance.
"He looked real good today," Toronto manager Matt Armijo said later. "I think the guys were awful impressed by him. Frustrated, but impressed."
For the game, Sykora had 3 hits in 4 at-bats, drove in 5, and scored 4 runs. The 22-year-old is known in league circles as a tireless worker, and told reporters he has recently been putting in extra time fine-tuning his swing, "to keep it short, compact and simple."
"Looks like it worked today," he said.
Jim Sykora hit a solo-shot off Jimmy Grams in the 2nd, hit a two-run home run off Jimmy Grams in the 3rd, walked in the 5th, hit a two-run home run off Jordan Clarke in the 7th and flied out in the 8th.
For the season, Sykora is hitting .203, batted in 37 runs with 14 home runs and 39 runs scored.
