Medina Bangs Out 5 Base Hits Saturday, May 21st , 2022 After a 5-hit effort to lead Tampa Bay's 12-10 victory over the Austin Desperados, right fielder Vinny Medina told BNN beat writers it had been "a special day." "It really doesn't matter whether it's sandlot ball, high school or college, two hits in a game is nice," he said. "Three or four is better, but five or more is out of sight. And to do that at the American Baseball Association-level is really something special." The 25-year-old player earned his accolades at Dell Diamond with a spectacular 5-for-5 game against the Desperados. "His swing is getting there," said Captains skipper Erik Thames, who spoke glowingly of Medina after the game. "We want him to be quick with his swing, short and compact. We want him to be patient and go the other way when he can. Vinny did that to perfection." Vinny Medina hit a two-run single in the 2nd, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 7th, walked in the 9th, doubled in the 11th and walked in the 13th.
