Monster 3-HR Day for Ramirez
Thursday, April 15th , 2021
Oakland Invaders left fielder Ernesto Ramirez almost did it all. He sent three shots out of the ballpark, scored 3 times and drove in 5 runs and had 4 hits in 5 at-bats.
The one thing he could not do, however, was lead the Invaders to victory. The Sandusky Seagulls escaped with the win, 7-6, despite being on the receiving end of the barrage from Ramirez.
"I'd be lying if I said I didn't like hitting three homers, but losing takes a little glitter off the game," he admitted to BNN writers after the game.
Ernesto Ramirez hit a solo-shot off Steve Pikula in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Steve Pikula in the 5th, hit a three-run home run off Steve Pikula in the 7th, flied out in the 9th and walked in the 11th.
"When someone hits three home runs, you put yourself in a tough position to win," said Oakland manager Bobby Campbell. "We were lucky to win this one. I don't think it matters how hard you throw, especially in the National Conference. If you leave a ball out over the plate to good American Baseball Association hitters, if they get a bead on you and you leave it over the middle, they're probably going to take a good hack at it."
This year, Ramirez has hit at a .292 pace and produced 14 RBIs, 8 home runs and scored 9 runs.
