Wagner Smashes 3 Homers for Phoenix Monday, April 25th , 2022 Phoenix Gladiators center fielder Jon Wagner sensed he was going to have a good day at the plate, but he still might have underestimated it a little. Prior to the start of today's contest with the Austin Desperados, Wagner told teammates he was sure he would hit a home run. He did -- three times. "During batting practice I really had my swing down pat," he recalled. "I felt some thunder in the lumber." The big day from Wagner pushed the Gladiators past the Desperados, 15-6. To go along with the homers, he collected 6 RBIs and scored 3 runs. "I was seeing good, feeling good and swinging good," Wagner told reporters after the game. Jon Wagner hit a solo-shot off J.R. Mitchell in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off J.R. Mitchell in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, hit a GRAND SLAM off Jimmy Harris in the 5th and walked in the 7th. At present, Wagner is batting .304 and has collected 6 home runs, 19 RBIs, .364 OBP and scored 16 runs. |
