Tampa Bay Captains Acquired by Matt Payne Tuesday, October 29th , 2024 Mike Tyler turned over the keys to the Tampa Bay Captains this afternoon to Matt Payne in a brief ceremony outside Ahoy Park. Matt Payne wasted no time trying to put his mark on the team. "I've made a lot of money building things that no one thought would work. I've got a track record. Some people don't like change, but you need to embrace change if the alternative is disaster," he said. "Great teams are built with great players. We're gonna go get them." Payne is said to be a tolerant character, with a fiscal personality of charitable. The Captains finished the regular season with a 62-100 record, last place in the American Conference Central Division. |
