Epstein Sensational, 5-for-7
Saturday, September 14th , 2024
Chris Epstein knows as well as anyone that in baseball, the biggest contracts go to the biggest hitters. At Fountain Park, he made his case to be considered among that group.
The 26-year-old right fielder hammered 5 hits in 7 chances, though the remarkable effort came even as his Fountain Hills 23ers fell, 16-15, to the Halifax Heathens.
"We made some bad pitches and he took advantage of it," Heathens manager David Morris told BNN sportswriters after the game. "Thankfully, we were able to do enough elsewhere that Epstein wasn't the difference."
Chris Epstein grounded out in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, hit a two-run double in the 5th, hit an RBI double in the 6th, hit a two-run single in the 7th, singled in the 9th and flied out in the 10th.
Epstein has collected 102 hits for the 23ers this year, 11 of them home runs. He has also netted 64 RBIs and scored 56 runs while batting .290.
