AC Announces Cy Young Award Saturday, November 11th , 2023 The Austin Desperados have a rising superstar or maybe even a budding Hall-of-Famer in the making. It's Sam Campos, this year's American Conference Cy Young Award selection. This blossoming hurler wowed fans, peers and sportswriters with a fabulous performance. Campos compiled a 18-4 record in 33 starts, tallied 263 strikeouts in 216 innings and recorded a 2.25 ERA. Other clubs managed only a .194 batting average against him. He received 4 first place votes out of a possible 5. Luke Scrimger of the Austin Desperados finished second in voting, while Joe Hart of the Halifax Heathens finished third with 1 first place vote.
