Cincinnati Playoff Hopes Officially Zero Wednesday, September 23rd , 2026 It wasn't meant to be for the Cincinnati Royals this year. Despite a tough battle, they were eliminated from playoff contention today. "It is a bad feeling," said Royals reliever Kevin Kovach. "Once you get into the playoffs, anything can happen. But you've gotta get in there first, and we weren't able to do that." Before this season, the Royals last missed the playoffs in 2020. In the 27 years they have been a American Baseball Association franchise, they have missed the playoffs 10 times. In the last 10 seasons, the Royals have made the playoffs 6 times.
