Cabriales Socks It to Invaders, Cracks 5 Hits
Monday, August 11th , 2025
Today at Ballpark of Detroit, Ruben Cabriales put on an impressive display.

The Detroit Giants first baseman tagged Oakland pitching for 5 hits in 6 at-bats, but his teammates were unable to capitalize on the spree and lost the game to the Oakland Invaders by the score of 10-9.

"The loss takes some of the joy out of it, but I'll take it," Cabriales said. "5-for-6 ain't bad in any league."

Despite the terrific performance, the Giants manager was unwilling to offer the first baseman much praise, saying the "whole roster" is held accountable for losses.

"Ruben told me 'Coach, I had 5 hits' and I said 'Well that's great, but it looks like we needed one more from you,'" manager Blake Barber said.

Ruben Cabriales singled in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, hit a solo-shot off Dennis Allen in the 4th, singled in the 6th, hit a two-run home run off Idhma Kodandarami in the 8th and struck out in the 11th.

For the season, Cabriales has hit .271 with 25 home runs and 80 RBIs. He has played in 116 games and scored 63 times.
