Hit Streak Over, 23ers Stop Day
Saturday, September 2nd , 2023
Dale Day saw his 22-game hitting streak wither and die during the San Diego Fleet win over Fountain Hills at Fountain Park. The 22-year-old right fielder was held hitless in 4 at-bats by the Fountain Hills 23ers, but his teammates produced enough offense to win the game, 6-3.
"Am I disappointed about the hit streak? Maybe, just a little bit," a seemingly upbeat Day told reporters in the clubhouse. "But really, how could you be unhappy after you hit in 22 straight games? I'm just glad it lasted as long as it did. Life is good."
Day is hitting .313 for the season with 6 home runs, 14 RBIs and 28 runs scored. He has 42 hits in 134 at-bats and played in 32 games.
