3-HR Binge for Alpers Against Chicago
Wednesday, August 12th , 2026
Dallas Dragons first baseman Austin Alpers sensed he was going to have a good day at the plate, but he still might have underestimated it a little.
Prior to the start of today's contest with the Chicago Gangsters, Alpers told teammates he was sure he would hit a home run. He did -- three times.
"During batting practice I really had my swing down pat," he recalled. "I felt some thunder in the lumber."
The big day from Alpers pushed the Dragons past the Gangsters, 8-0. To go along with the homers, he collected 4 RBIs and scored 3 runs.
"I was seeing good, feeling good and swinging good," Alpers told reporters after the game.
Austin Alpers hit a solo-shot off Sam Palacios in the 2nd, hit a solo-shot off Sam Palacios in the 4th, struck out in the 5th, grounded out in the 7th and hit a two-run home run off Chris Zich in the 9th.
Thus far this year, Alpers has hit .256 with 7 home runs and 22 RBIs.
