Red-Hot Sumney Scorches Gladiators Thursday, July 25th , 2024 Nick Sumney had an answer for everything the Phoenix Gladiators threw at him at Estadio Azteca. The Halifax center fielder went 5-for-5 in the game to put his name in the record book and give the Heathens a win, 12-6. Summing up his batting philosophy to BNN writers after the game, Sumney said, "I just see the ball and I hit it." Nick Sumney singled in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, doubled in the 6th and singled in the 7th. This year, Sumney has hit 12 home runs and posted a .319 batting average.
