Syracuse's Simpson Top Pitcher in September Saturday, October 1st , 2022 Matt Simpson of Syracuse had an award-winning September as he took home the American Conference Pitcher of the Month award. "He told me once people used to make fun of the way he pitches," Simpson's pitching coach told reporters. "There wasn't anybody laughing in September except for Matt." Simpson was all business when he took the mound though, collecting a 4-1 record in 5 starts. He struck out 49 batters in 30.1 innings and kept opponents to a .233 batting average. This season, Simpson has registered 16 wins and 6 losses in 25 starts with a 2.69 ERA. |
