Ward and Ortiz Traded Friday, July 28th , 2023 In a move that has fans in both cities buzzing, the Charleston Shiners and the Oakland Invaders have agreed to a deal that will have 24-year old minor league LHP Dennis Allen and 24-year old minor league 2B Ryan Ward heading to Oakland in exchange for 31-year old CF Pat Marchitto, 24-year old LF Juan Ortiz, and a 7th round draft pick. Provided they pass a physical, the players should be with their respective teams in time for tomorrow's games. This season, Ward is swinging the bat at a .309 rate with 50 hits in 162 at-bats. To date he has hit 2 home runs, scored 21 runs and driven in 19. This season, Ortiz has hit at a .336 clip with 78 RBIs, 22 home runs and 86 runs scored. He has played in 105 games. |
