Week's #1 Player Honored by NC Monday, July 24th , 2023 24-year-old Mark Root sent shock waves through American Baseball Association last week with an eye-popping performance that brought him the National Conference Player of the Week Award. A newcomer to the league, Root made the establishment sit up and take notice, punishing opposing pitchers with a .462 average, 6 hits in 13 at-bats, 1 home run and 7 runs batted in. Where the Charleston Shiners center fielder goes from here, only the baseball gods know for sure, but Root certainly made his mark last week. Currently Root is hitting .276 and has collected 15 home runs, 59 RBIs and scored 54 times, while playing in 94 games. |
