Syracuse Pitcher Gets August's Rookie Trophy Thursday, September 1st , 2022 For the last month Matt Simpson has done his best to prove he can be a big game pitcher for the Syracuse Scorpions. He was the best newcomer and picked up the American Conference Rookie of the Month trophy. In August Simpson rang up a fine 5-1 record in 6 starts as he dominated league batters with an excellent 3.05 ERA. He worked 41.1 innings, collecting 43 strikeouts while walking 11. This year, Simpson has gone 12-5 with an ERA of 2.62 and has 149 strikeouts in 127 innings. |
