Ortiz National Conference's Hottest Hitter Monday, June 15th , 2026 Charleston fans have something to crow about today as Charleston first baseman Juan Ortiz nabbed the National Conference Player of the Week Award for his performance over the last seven days. "I know there are times when it's hard to lay off pitches. Everyone goes through stretches when he's too eager to put the ball in play. You know, though, I feel like this past week I was able to get in the right frame of mind and just let things come naturally," said Ortiz. He posted a .522 average (12-for-23) this past week with 3 home runs, 6 RBIs, and 8 runs scored. This year, Ortiz has socked 84 hits in 243 at-bats for a .346 average with 9 home runs. He is getting on base at a .418 pace and his totals also include 37 RBIs and 43 runs scored. |
