Wilber Baffles Halifax Batters
Saturday, May 11th , 2024
The Halifax Heathens manager was philosophical in the clubhouse following a shutout loss to the Boston Whistlers. The Heathens were overpowered by Boston starter Pat Wilber, who hurled his club to victory, 7-0.
"It was just one of those games -- shake it off and do better next time," David Morris said.
Over 9 innings, Wilber blanked Halifax on 4 hits with 1 walk and 9 strikeouts.
"I kept them off balance. I could tell a lot of them were late on fastballs because they were fouling them off. Once you see that, it sets them up for other pitches," Wilber said.
"I set them up, where if they chased one breaking ball, they were going to chase another one."
This season, Wilber has 6 wins and 3 losses and a 2.21 ERA.
