Robinson Makes Record Book, Slams 4 HR
Saturday, July 8th , 2023
Fans at Eagles Stadium won't soon forget the raw display of power put on by Indianapolis Eagles left fielder Jerry Robinson. Robinson smashed 4 home runs in Indianapolis's 10-1 victory over the Oakland Invaders.
"To be honest with you, I have never even thought about hitting this many home runs in a game," Robinson said to reporters after the game. "Only legends hit this many home runs in a game and I ain't no legend."
In his history-making performance, Robinson victimized Oakland hurlers for 4 hits in 4 at-bats with 4 runs scored and 6 RBIs.
"What he did was unbelievable," said Oakland manager Steve Pate. "My guys gave it their best, but he hit some fine pitches. He was like -- he was in automatic home run mode today. He just had that great swing. It didn't matter what we threw him. It was gone."
Jerry Robinson hit a solo-shot off Zachary Christman in the 2nd, hit a two-run home run off Zachary Christman in the 3rd, walked in the 5th, hit a two-run home run off Tom Paolucci in the 6th and hit a solo-shot off Jody Fouse in the 8th.
Looking at his present stats, Robinson has compiled a .254 batting average in 81 games with a .351 on-base percentage, while hitting 29 home runs and driving in 58 runs.
