McKinstry Smacks 3 Out of the Park
Monday, July 29th , 2019
It was a day for the record books for Cleveland Wild Things first baseman Steve McKinstry, who walloped three out of Spiders Ballpark against the Eagles. However, not even a three-homer game could prevent the Eagles from taking the 5-3 victory.
"We threw some good pitches and they hit 'em, and we made some bad pitches and they hit 'em. That's a good strategy for losing ballgames," Cleveland skipper Brandon Harper joked after the loss.
McKinstry still had a few opportunities to celebrate along the way. He was 3-for-4 for the day, batting in 3 runs and scoring 3 times.
"I never, ever thought I would hit three home runs," McKinstry said. "I hit three home runs once when I was 12 in Little League and I thought that was going to be the last time."
Steve McKinstry hit a solo-shot off Shawn McMurtry in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Shawn McMurtry in the 4th, flied out in the 6th and hit a solo-shot off Cameron Hutchinson in the 8th.
Presently McKinstry is batting .278 with 31 home runs and 73 RBIs. He has played in 107 games and scored 67 times.
