Froerer Guns Downs 16 Phantoms Friday, July 19th , 2019 Led by an outstanding performance from starter John Froerer, the Syracuse Scorpions topped the Pittsburgh Phantoms today by a score of 11-3 at Scorpion Stadium. The 26-year-old Froerer brought his top game to the mound, striking out 16 batters while allowing 7 hits and giving up 1 walk. "He made a lot of good pitches out there," Phantoms manager Jason Weber said. "He made some of our guys look bad. We didn't help matters, but we really have to give him credit -- he didn't make many mistakes." To date this year, Froerer shows a 10-7 record, 21 starts, 148 innings, 217 strikeouts and a 3.71 ERA.
