Higuera, Whistlers Shut Out Scorpions, 6-0
Sunday, July 18th , 2021
Antonio Higuera of the Boston Whistlers was on top of his game.

The 35-year-old tantalized the Syracuse Scorpions with crisp curves and changeups, mixed in with just enough fastballs to keep the batters honest, shutting them out, 6-0.

"He had the changeup working," Syracuse manager Ricardo Lopez said in postgame comments. "You knew it was coming and you still grounded out -- and then he threw it even slower."

The Boston hurler had 3 strikeouts, gave up 1 walk and surrendered 4 hits in his complete-game effort.

Higuera told reporters after the game that "keeping the ball down is the key to being successful in this league."

"If you don't do that, they'll make you pay," he said.

In 20 starts this season, Higuera has rung up a 9-9 record and a 4.59 ERA.
