Dalton Magnificent in 1-0 Montreal Triumph Friday, July 16th , 2021 The Montreal Maroons did little to support starter Phil Dalton against the Syracuse Scorpions, but it turned out he didn't need the help. The right-hander spun a complete game shutout against the Scorpions, striking out 4 and surrendering 3 hits. The performance from Dalton allowed Montreal to escape with the 1-0 win, despite an anemic offense. "Nobody came to me and said, 'Phil, we're gonna need you to win this one for us today,' but I could feel it," Dalton told BNN reporters following the win. "I'm the guy that will step up for you when you need it." In 20 starts this season, Dalton has gathered 7 wins while suffering 8 losses.
