Fernandez Torches Captains for 5 Hits Thursday, June 17th , 2021 It doesn't happen very often, but it did for Frank Fernandez -- a 5-hit day. He went on a rampage and sparkled on the diamond at Ahoy Park, but the performance lost a little luster when the Trash Pandas were downed, 7-6, by the Tampa Bay Captains. After his glittering performance, the Toronto shortstop told the press that he "just tried to get myself in a good count and have a good at-bat." His batting theory paid dividends today as he slammed 5 hits in 6 tries and put his name in the record book. "I just wish we had added a win in the record book, too," Fernandez said. Frank Fernandez singled in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 6th, flied out in the 9th and singled in the 11th.
