3-HR Game for McDonald Friday, April 28th , 2023 Philadelphia Marauders left fielder Art McDonald put on a dazzling display of power at Dell Diamond against the Austin Desperados. In the 7-6 Marauders victory, McDonald penned his name into the record books, slamming a trio of home runs in one of baseball's finest single-day efforts. "He can hit them out anywhere, right, center, left, it doesn't matter," Austin manager Adam Ponder said. "He's super strong and stays on the ball so well." Along with his three home runs, the 21-year-old had 3 hits in 4 at-bats, 5 RBIs and 4 runs scored. "Life will always throw you curves, just keep fouling them off," McDonald said after the game, when asked about his hitting philosophy. "The right pitch will come, and when it does, be prepared to run the bases. Or trot around them, like I did today." Art McDonald was hit by a pitch in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off J.R. Mitchell in the 3rd, struck out in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off Bill Reno in the 7th and hit a two-run home run off Bob Baucke in the 9th. In the 2023 season McDonald is hitting .351 with 10 home runs. |
