Piscitelli on Fire, 5-for-5 Against (SF) Newport News
Friday, January 15th , 2021
Speaking with reporters after a dominating hitting performance, John Piscitelli said his club's tilt with the (SF) Newport News Shipbuilders "felt almost like batting practice." The 21-year-old second baseman went a remarkable 5-for-5 at the plate.
"I saw the ball well and could just about hit it anywhere I wanted," he recalled later.
However, his sensational day wasn't enough for the (OAK) Apodaca Gangsters, who were topped by the Shipbuilders, 18-6.
"It's a good lesson for him, I guess," Gangsters manager Willie Navarrette said. "Sometimes John is going to lose. But I would rather him go 5-for-5 and lose than go 0-for-5 and lose."
John Piscitelli doubled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, doubled in the 5th, singled in the 6th, hit a two-run home run off Timothy Lipinski in the 8th and walked in a run in the 9th.
This season, Piscitelli is hitting at a .372 pace with 5 home runs, 17 RBIs and has scored 23 times.
