The Vancouver Caribou did just enough to sneak past the San Francisco Fire, 2-1, at Mounties Field. Vancouver pitcher Joe Brackett, in particular, had a standout performance. Jeff Cox, who is tied for 2nd in the NC in saves with 20, nailed down the save. With the win over San Francisco, the Caribou improved to 43-40.
Chris Dellinger took San Francisco hurler Jon Messer deep in the bottom of the sixth. His solo home run put the Caribou on top, 2-1. In all, Dellinger had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 3.
"Runs were at a premium," said Vancouver manager Pete Clark.
