A nice crowd turned out for a clash between the Austin Desperados and Phoenix Gladiators.

The Austin Desperados topped the Phoenix Gladiators, 9-4, in American Conference action at Gladiators Ballpark. The standout performance belonged to Austin pitcher and Ft. Worth, Texas, native Matt Parsons. Parsons picked up the win for Austin, going 5.1 innings. He gave up 2 runs on 5 hits. He now sports a record of 5-9.

Austin used the hitting of Ramon Dozal to pick up the win. The third baseman clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the second inning to put the Desperados on top, 2-0. For the game, Dozal had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.

"It never gets old," said Dozal. "Winning, that is."

Austin is now 40-43, Phoenix 34-49.
