Giants Squelch Nightmare Offense in Shutout Win
Phil White was locked in. The left-hander led the Detroit Giants to a 5-0 win against the New York Nightmare at Ballpark of Detroit. White, now 6-8, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 3 hits, while striking out 4, walking 2, and allowing no runs. The last-place Nightmare now sit at 32-51.

The Giants got an important contribution from second baseman Fernando Espindola, who in the bottom of the fifth knocked a 0-1 changeup to left-center for a bases-clearing double. It was his 22nd double of the season and put the Giants ahead, 4-0.

"Hustle and hard work is a big part of our success," said Espindola. "Those qualities define our team."
