Stars Take Home 3-2 Win Over Vancouver
|
Ryan Heyer could take little solace in pitching a good game. The fact is his Vancouver Mounties lost, dropping a 3-2 decision to the Hollywood Stars at Hollywood Grounds. Reliever Wade Vesperman picked up the win. His record improves to 1-0. Ryan Heyer, who is tied for 3rd in the NC in complete games with 1, took the loss. Chong-hyeon Hyong earned the save for Hollywood, his 13th of the year.
The Mounties had been locked in a 1-1 tie with the Stars going into the bottom of the fifth inning. That changed quickly when the 20-year old shortstop Roberto Vazquez came to the plate. Vazquez hit a 2-run home run on a 1-1 fastball from Vancouver hurler Ryan Heyer. It was Vazquez's 1st home run of the year.
Vazquez called the win a testament to his team's "grit."
Hollywood is now 33-49.
