Vancouver Bats Go Silent in 4-0 Loss
|
Starting pitcher Chris Benson was a major factor in the 4-0 San Francisco Fire triumph over the Vancouver Caribou. Benson, now 5-5, was the winner. In 6 innings, he gave up 2 hits, while striking out 7, walking 2, and allowing no runs. San Francisco has now won 5 in a row.
San Francisco used a clutch at-bat from Raul Arreola to capture the win. The center fielder hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the third inning to put the Fire ahead, 4-0. It was his lone hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"Losing puts me in a bad mood," said Vancouver manager Pete Clark. "And right now nobody wants to be around me."
